Once again I am a Noob on this site maybe this isposted somewhere but I couldnt find it what are points and what does it mean to donate them

Amount of points earned per new topic: 25
Amount of bonus points earned per reply for topic author: 2
Amount of points earned per reply: 25
Maximum amount of points earned for posting: 75

The idea if of donating them is way to say to thank you for someone that help you out, made somethnig for you.
