I believe it depends on your provider, mine can...

To send to email via sms,
1. Key in an 'e' followed by a character space.

2. Key in the recipient's email address.

3. Add a character space and proceed to enter your message.

4. Once you've done that, send your SMS to 1503.

Example:
e joe@maxis.net.my Just an email to remind you about the concert this weekend.

To send to sms via email,
1. Just use any mail client.

2. Key in the recipient's email address using his phone number.

Example:
017XXXXXXX@mail.maxis.net.my
