View Full Version : Im considering Ubuntu Linux
Since I have gotten the A1200, a Linux OS phone, I've become more and more interested in Linux and the PC distributions... I have read in numerous places that Ubuntu is the most user friendly and is a great way to be introduced to Linux Operating Systems.
Any advice?

I dont think there'll be problems on Red Hat, but ubuntu you have to check for some support first...

There is a fair amount of support for Ubuntu.
Don't think you will have problems.
My research has led me to believe I wont be able to burn DVDs....nor will my Epson R200 printer work fully... I think I may pass for right now.
But I have d/l copies of both Ububtu 7.04 and Freespire 2.0.0 and burned the ISO files in case I change my mind.
i could never get my wireless to work with it... but i would love to get rid of XP pro and Ubuntu seems n00b prove LOL
Adrian was telling me about Ubuntu Media Studio... with DVD programs and everything... I might just take a closer look

Rudd, the problem might have been the release of Ubuntu. I had Fiesty Fawn, and my wifi wouldn't work either... Then I got Dapper Drake, and the problem was solved

Overall, it is a good distro

The only thing that can be time consuming (if you want it to be) is enabling mp3 playback... But there are Ubuntu programs that auto install/enable it for you.
I believe Ububtu Studio covers all that

Probably.. I have it on my tower, and it runs great! You can also dual-boot with XP if you want
