View Full Version : GUIDE: Custom Operator Text!

This modification works on Cingular phones with an occasional quirk. Every time you call voice mail to retrieve a message you get a new, empty text message from the system. Additionally, you will see an icon on your main screen at all times indicating that you have a voice mail message. After a couple weeks this issue went away on my phone. I have no idea why. For you T-Mobile users out there, you are lucky, this modification works flawlessly.
Before you do anything first find out what number your phone dials when you call voicemail. Do this by pressing the menu key key and then press "Messages" and press "SELECT", scroll down to "Voicemail" then press the menu key key, scroll down to "Voicemail Setup" and press "SELECT". Write down the number displayed. This modification will erase this number from memory.
Launch P2K Phone File Manager and go to the "/a" folder and download the "plmn_text_table.bin" file to your computer. Now download seem "0032_0001".
Launch OpEdit, you can download it here. Open "plmn_text_table.bin". Look in the column which is labeled "Operator name". Scroll down to find your operator. Click on the first instance of your operator's name and it will become editable. Change the text to whatever you want. You should do this for all the entries in your country's area. When you are done, click the button labeled "Save file". Use P2K Phone File Manager to upload your modified file.
modify your cell phone V3 V3 operator name
Launch XVI32. Open seem "0032_0001". Go to offset "2" and make sure bit "1" is checked (Cingular users uncheck this bit). Now go to offset "4B" and uncheck bit "6". Cingular users only: go to offset "1F" and uncheck bit "4". Click the "Set" button and save the file. Upload the seem to your phone and restart.
Press and hold "1" to dial voicemail. Do you get an error saying there is no number stored? Enter your number that you wrote down earlier and restore it. I like this mod because it serves somewhat as an extra layer of protection if your phone gets stolen. Maybe the person who robbed you will ditch the phone with your name on it if they don't know how to work on it to remove it. Maybe not. Well, it will avoid confusion at parties then.

Could you download the "plmn_text_table.bin" file and "0032_0001" seem using p2k commander?
Yes you can very easily. At the top of the drop down menu> select P2k phone seems> Wait for seems to load> Scroll down to seem 0032_0001> click it> and click the copy button. Then select P2k phone system from drop down> go to a/mobile and scroll down and you will see plmn_text_table.bin copy that to PC folder also.

Ok, thank you thomas, as always :)
So, once you edited the seem 0032_0001, in p2kcommander do you upload the seem to "p2k phone seems" or "/a p2k phone system"? Where do you upload the "plmn_text_table.bin" file to in p2k commander?
Also when i launch opEdit and open the "plmn_text_table.bin" i get this image:
http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc221/JazzyJz/?action=view¤t=opeditfileedit4phone.jpg
Am i supposed to get this image? If so, I only see one T-mobile in that image to edit according to the guide, since my carrier is T-mobile. What else do i have to edit in that image?

You should use XVI32 or another hex editor.
Get XVI32 Here (http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm)
It also has some information on the program.
After you edit a seem or plmn_text_table.bin you upload it
and overwrite the original file.
Make sure you have a backup of the original.

Yes, it worked now!! finally
Thank you all so much for your help and patience, especially FLD :D!
But i have another question though, i notice when you install another skin on your phone-no text is there at all. How do you add the custom text to your new skin?
For example, I have FLD's "Eclipse" skin (which is a sexy lookin skin btw FLD), i want my custom text to show while my phone is currently in the "Eclipse" skin. How would i do that?

Ms.360, I will tell you something. Just say you decide to change your Operator Tag later on. Instead of downloading the plmn_text_table.bin file and renaming it. You can use use AONR. Download HERE (http://www.motomodding.us/dload.php?action=file&file_id=775)

Yes, thank you Thomas for the suggestion. But sadly, i tired that awhile ago and it didnt work.
Maybe i could try again another time and see if it works.
Ok, so i got the carrier text working fine and showing up on different skins. But i noticed the text is a little transparent and it doesnt have an outline over it.
Is there a way to make the text less transparent and make it have an outline? Also, can you change the color of the text? Can you change the color of the outline?
Thomas

Yes you can do that by editing the skin in skinner4moto, which you can download HERE (http://motomodding.us/dload.php?action=file&file_id=788).
1) Open the skin with skinner4moto
2) Click on the options tab on the side & make sure model is set to RAZR V3
3) At the top in grouped elements. Click on the tab which you whould like to change.
4) On the side will be the options for that Element which you can change. ( Outline colour, Transparency etc)
5) When your happy with the changes. Click the Save button.
6) And re-upload the skin.
