In GMail, make sure you enable pop access...

Open Message Center
Email Msgs -> Options -> Email Msgs Setup -> Account Settings -> New Entry
Account Name : Any name you like (I use GMail for easy reference)
Status : Active
Name : it will appear in the email you send before your email address i.e. StarkRaving
User ID : log in name
Password : log in password
Return Address : email address you want to use to receive reply.
Web Session : choose your working setting (i.e. MediaNet)
Email Provider : Custom
Protocol : POP3
Sending host : smtp.gmail.com
Sending port : 465
Receiving host : pop.gmail.com
Receiving port : 995
Cleanup : how long to keep your emails.
Save on server : do you want to keep a copy in your email server?
Security
Use SSL for sending : Yes
Use SSL for receiving : Yes
Warning in Background : If anything suspicious come up what do you want to do?
Size restriction : limit the size of emails you want to receive. You will receive a message that more are on the server.
