Porting Drms

fldodger, I have and L7 DRM that I want to port for E398...What Happend if I extract the gif from the L7 DRM and then replace the E398 gif with these (without editing) and then compile the shx file, I think the DRM is very similar.

That is the one for porting DRM to rizr. It is the same way for porting to L7. The DRM I believe is the same.

Thanks Fldodger. This guide is pretty easy to follow and the drm iam porting it doesnt have many images i need to replace there is only like 15 images in the whole drm.

Thats just great now my V3 is bricked, it turns on white screen then goes off again?

Get it into bootloader mode and flash a different drm to it.

No problem. It happen all the time when you make them (drm). The testing and trouble shooting.

FLD trying to Port a DRM for the V3xx, but I keeping making it too big. The icons, when I change the colors, they become bigger, and the icons that I am substituting are say 1.2kb and the originals are 600 bytes. How can I make adjustments for the larger sizes?

Did you find a guide for Porting DRM V3xx? The overall size doesn't matter. Just make the images dimension the correct size.

No I never found one I kind of went by some of the others I found. I just open up the cg15 gif file and change the gifs that I want to change, like the battery, the signal, and some of the other icons. The size has to matter because when I try to create the new CG15 I get an error message.(file too large).

The trick there is to delete icon not used. Find the su and sd and cl and delete them. Then in the higher number there are a bunch of ugly ones that are never used you delete them.
By delete I mean delete the image and save it as a blank gift.

i knew there had to be a secret to this somehow!!! Thanks a lot. I might be turning out a few new DRM's now that I am armed with that tid-bit of information. You da man!!! One more thing is there a table that tells what icon is used for what somewhere?

FLD How do I create blank gif files to replace the ones I am not gonna use? The files that I am creating are larger than the actual gif. What is the correct procedure, I want to get this right. Nevermind I'm using a blank one from the original DRM and just renaming it.

FLD Would you happen to know of or have a list of some large ones that can be change or substituted with blank ones?

I got the RED DRM to work, I got pissed and checked about 10 of the large icons near the end of the cg Gif file and just deleted them, problem solved, and it works on my phone. I think most of the icons I deleted are in the skin anyway.

Most of the gifs can replaced with blank ones, I personally dont have the patience to mod them, since it doesnt effect the DRM size dramatically, plus you run into a risk of bricking the DRM and have to reload backup to get pass the Critical error the fone sits in bootloader...
