Try removing and recreating your connection. You using WiFi right? My brother-in-law had a similar issue with his lappy and after we did that it worked so try it and see.

Check the firewall too.

Also check that the browsers have not somehow got set to use a proxy to connect. Happened on a couple of pcs in work without any explanation.

Like I live by "No Vista, it's bad for you." If you can get it to boot from the disk try and see if you can get it reinstalled.

I still don't see what the big problem is with Vista. I've got it on several boxes and have never had a problem.

You an see the problem by just reading above. I am not buying into it and 8 out of 10 people I know with it have nothing but complaints on this OS. It's like a new age ME. I still put my money on Windows 7.

Not at all ME was a lot, lot worse. Vista itself is not a problem, too often though it is paired with hardware that's incapable of doing it justice.

Just because a box can run one version of windows doesn't necessarily mean it can run another, and if it can it won't always be to it's full potential.

You have a point there.

My son ( 24 years old) loves vista. The laptop was great and for $100.00 he paid for it used was a great deal. We do have the master restore. I can get into recovery mode. But there are no longer any Restore points.
I have contacted Fujitsu to about getting one.

If the laptop has a recovery partition on the hd (like most seem to these days) you should be able to get it back to factory default, i.e. as it was supplied to you.

The method of getting to this differs by maker, on mine it's Alt+F10 during post. Once there the laptop can perform a disc to disc restore.

No it is not on the hard drive, that was the first thing looked for.

I thought mine didn't have one but it turns out it just isn't shown in windows explorer (presumably due to the format). The documentation was the only clue to it's existence.
