I didn?t attempt to remove the front (blue) housing of the flip because there isn?t any screws (like the V3 has) to disassemble it. It appears to be held together with some double face tape and not something that I felt comfortable with pulling apart (at this time).

Here are some of the pics that I took as I did the surgery? FYI my phone is all back together again and just fine. haha :hehehe:"

"Having taken apart the K1 and putting it back together again gave me a new appreciation for just how tight the manufacturing (and assembling) tolerances are in this phone. IMO It?s just amazing what can be done today in mass production and still maintain the kind of fit and finish we see in the end result like the KRZR."

I admire vwvwvw,
for having the Balls to try this and successfully making
an amazing guide,
thanks mate.

Wow thats looks nice, i would never do it, too scared to break it, the damn thing is so small. But its good to see what it looks like from inside. :)

Well I downloaded the service manual a log time now and I have to change my side buttons and I am going to change my antennae housing to the black as well. I attempted to take my phone apart for my self for the first time last Monday following t the manual carefully and the reassembling it back (yest with much anxiety and sweat to make sure my baby still works) and I conquered it. It's not hard really but word to the wise follow everything exactly as it is and be very careful especially with flex cables. Happy modding!

We know it's not rocket science but it's so small that it's just the fear of screwing something up especially when you don't have any experience doing it. Imagine when i wanted to get my face plates and back changed a few guys who do repairs for a living were unwilling to attempt it. I managed to find one guy to do it as I didn't receive my tools to do it my self.

It shouldn't be that hard, I assume, but knowing which screws to take out, what size and from where, is easier a huge plus, especially for a first timer, atleast...

Yeah well after I did it myself I saw it was pretty easy so it was just a matter of getting over the butterflies.

I have the Black chrome face plates with the original silver keypad. It was silver originally after it took a hard fall and the dings were driving me crazy as i had not too long gotten it. I was hoping to go full black but I am not getting the other metal parts at the screen and key pad in black.

Oh you brave fellas, would not even think about doing that again. I do think the K-1 is a awesome phone, if you remember my post months ago how I left my K-1 in my jeans pocket and it went thought the wash(rinse cycle too). Found it when I was about to put them in the dryer. Took out the batt and the sim put it on its side in front of an electric heater and after two days it was back to normal. it still works perfectly. I got lucky.

i took apart my z3 a few months ago. i used a guide online and followed all the steps. its relatively easy, but really nerve racking because i did not want to lose any screws. and instead of a phone tool i used a nail filer as a lever to open hinges. :D still worked nicely.

for me, the hardest part was prying open the back part of the phone, i had to use alittle pull to get it off, i didn't want to snap the back part off.

Nice, I wanted to get it in black but then the blue just got my eyes...lol so now i am thinking to change the face plates to something more unique like red or something, i am still looking for ones.

gsm4world.us or cnn.cn. Be Careful on ebay. Some stuff are not authentic but you may get something good there too.

Thanks for the quick reply...still debating which color i should pick to change to, red looks good, but the keypad is just so not appealing...i am still searching for better ones
