R479_G_08.B5.86R to R4441D_G_08.01.03R

I have a red v3i (cingular non-itunes v3r) with R479_G_08.B5.86R installed. Can someone tell me if this is sticky? I tried updating to R4441D_G_08.01.03R with no luck. I get a few "Critical Error" messages in the bootloader ( this doesn't seem to be a problem with fonts or DRM's that are flashed) the phone fails to reboot, and I have to re-flash to my backup, then the phone boots with no errors. The only real advantage that I know of with R4441D_G_08.01.03R is that it has EDGE enabled. I would like to use this because of the increased bandwith - other than that I don't beleive that there is any real advantage to this upgrade.

i tried using RSD Lite 3.3 & Flash and Backup 3 . something

rsd lite finishes flashing then fails to reboot the phone
F&B fails to finish flashing

just thought someone else may have had this happen and found a fix - peace

I would look for the seem edit to have your phone with edge enable.

I believe R4441D_G_08.01.03R is a very old firmware. If u need Edge, well that firmware (non-iTunes) seems to be from a V3ie model, or at least one with EDGE enabled.

There's a new one, New V3i MP:

R4441D_G_08.02.03R is newer than R4441D_G_08.01.03R

Only reference I can find in xlr8's seem map (http://xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt) to "EDGE" is this one in SEEM 0032_0001:

offset 89 - bit 0: Allow CLI Block (Calling Line Identifier) Line 2 (1 on, 0 off)
bit 1: Voicemail Line 2 Available (1 on, 0 off)
---> bit 2: EDGE Icon (1 on, 0 off) (only on EDGE supported phones with late version firmware)
bit 5: Swap Softkeys (1 on, 0 off)
bit 6: Multimedia > Camera > Camera Setup > Image Quality (1 on, 0 off)

But only for Icon to display, I can't seem to get that(R4441D_G_08.02.03R) either. Maybe i'll just leave it like it is, for now, and do a little more research, to make sure i'm not missing a step & end up with a :brick: :cool:

Activating EDGE with P2K seem editor:
a) SEEM 02AE_0001 change to: 0A 05 04 02 01 02 00 00;
b) SEEM 02AF offset 0001 change to 75;
c) 010A_0001 offset 000 change to 03;
d) SEEM0032_0001, offset 0089 change to 0C.
e) Reboot.

Dunno what when wrong, but getting Flash Neptune is correct. Maybe you can find another MP or reflash for that R4441D. And try the same mod again.

Well I know it's been too late to answer as time passed away for 4 years :D
But... I think I got solution on it. I just found it unintentionally by last Monday when back from vacation.

Then the step is so simple:
1. Just flash ma own V3i FIRMWARE BLANKER (http://www.4shared.com/file/5NnmdkIt/V3i__FIRMWARE__BLANKER.html) (10.2 MB) - so your phone will now completely "parallized" (no 86R firmware shadows on it anymore, it's really really clean). The only thing left insdie is the BL 0A.30 itself. Nothin more!

2. And your phone is now switched-off by itself after feeding that Blanker. It's gonna be dying but don't be afraid it's not completely dies at all :)

3. Go to the Guides STEP No.8 upto No.10 as provided 2009 by TankRider in here http://www.mmus.us/forum/showthread.php?t=9446

4. Now pull out the cable and remove the battery for two seconds, then re-insert the battery and plug the cable back. DON'T try to wake up the phone by pressing the RED power button. Just leave it alone.

5. Run the Flash&Backup 3 .... as you see in the left bottom, the program says "Phone Connected".

6. CONGRATZ NOW!!! Your phone is back alive anymore and ready to flash with any other firmwares & monsters. :)
But... Maybe you CAN'T use the R4441D_G_08_01_03R_Patched_MP_all_plat.shx . Will give you nothing when you flash it for I don't know. -- You can try using the other ones like NaNoRAZR by Ritza II, BlacKOMB, AnhVu's etc or flashit it away with the original un-Sticky wares of R4441D, R47A, R479 etc
You can even go back again to use that R479_G_03.B5.86R when you miss her much :D :D but once you use that 86R, you CAN'T get out of it til you repeat from Step 1 above :D :D:D
