id say maybe the treo, motorola Q, and the line of blackberries. i dont have a smart phone but those i think are the most talked about smart phones.

If I had to go any other way beside Moto I would have to say I would love to have some dealings with a BB Pearl.

iPhone is indeed overrated, just because at the pretty UI.. I think the moto smartphones are just as good... I think z8 is the way to go

would the z8 be considered a smart phone?

Well mobile-review says it falls indeed in the thin line between phone and smartphone.. it is very very packed with features... In fact so packed I think I'll pass  it's rather complex but yet Motorola good... but since I don't use that many stuff I'd rather pretty colors and luxurious v9 thing

right on, i mean, do i really need a laptop i can stick to my head? My v3i has made every call that i've tried to make with it. And that's what a phone is supposed to do. I've got My Kodak that I can make movies & take stills with. I got 2 PC's at the house, no laptop or PDA, though. I would really like to get me hands on one of those z8's seriously.

ok - i will admit it, it is quite interesting, having used touch screen monitors to operate machinery at my old job, and several other touch panel monitors to operate PC's, they are pretty durable, and i have seen very few errors from the hardware. But the iPhone has NO keypad. idk... maybe i wait til they get the bugs out and let the guys at the "iphone site" get some brutal testing and modding going on with it first.
Any thoughts?

Z8 is a smartphone. It uses the Symbian UIQ platform but I think it is really expensive.
And it has the same crappy 2 mp camera...

isnt 2mp for a cell phone good?

Moto has the worst cameras...
SE and Nokia have 5 MP cameras...

my kodak is only 5mp and you can get a 20x30 print with it - anyone know what the RAZR2 camera will be?
dragnandy

Everyone here in the Middle East uses Nokia phones. Most come unbranded with 5mp cameras w/flash, 2GB Memory cards and all the things you need for hands free in the car, to charge in the car, charge at home and the software to add pics, skins, music, videos, and more. With a phone like that, who needs a flashdrive? just plug it in and load anything. then transfer it when at the office or home.
My point to all this is that Motorola better sit up and take notice or they will be left behind. Don't get me wrong, I'll NEVER buy Nokia! Their reception to and from the towers here is AWEFUL! ...Terrible! (Stinks, even. lol) All my friends are constantly asking me to make calls on my RAZR v3 Black (yes, the ancient one.) because it works better. When we are out in the desert I'm the only one who gets a signal (full signal at that.) while their Nokias are readin "NO SERVICE" So, there's a trade-off. You either get mad amounts of features, or you get reliability and stability. Take your pick. lol

Actually, my A1200 Ming has more features than the iPhone does. I have no want for a phone which wont let you put your own ringtones on...

Treo......they're incredibly versatile. I have mine set as a universal remote for all my entertainment components, sets my house alarm from anywhere in the country and even has a program to bluetooth with my BMW to diagnose. 2gb sd card holds all the tunes I need for the MP3 player, (which I can use with my bt stereo headset) and all the video and pix I need to show off my fur kids.
I have no doubt it can do so much more and I am under-utilizing it.
pooh pooh on the iPhone I say.

I think my v3i will hold it's own for at least another year or so(hopefully!) but when it's time to upgrade, that ming looks pretty sweet

wow thats a total bummer. you cant have your own ringtone for the phone? with all those features id expect them to atleast let you have some customization.

Oh...they will let you...for a fee! Why buy ringtones from someone you just gave 600 bucks to? For 600 bills, I better get any ringtone I want!
