Backing up CG8...

Open Flash and backup

Make sure its set to V9

Go to Read Data tab

Set backup format to SMG

Select CG8

Click read data


Then bring folder with CG8 backup to desktop to make it easier[optional]

Modifying the Program to read the V9 boot image...

You can download the modded offset.ini file & program HERE (http://www.mmus.us/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=2038) with AT&T and Telstra V9 profile included.

Double Click offset.ini File (should open in notepad or wordpad)

Add following text to bottom of file...

[V9 R263311M]
Hellomoto=00000001
[r]

Click File and Save.

Changing/Replacing File in CG8...

Choose V9 profile from drop-down list

Browse for the cg8.smg that was backed up and saved to desktop
(it may be in another location depending on where it was saved)

Select 320x240

Load wanted 320x240 image to replace previous image & Save flash.

Flashing modded CG8...
Open Flash and backup

Select Firmwares tab

Click Select file on right

Browse to folder the CG8 was saved in

Click backup.f3u in same directory

Click Quick flash and modded CG8 will be flashed to phone!

I forgot to stick it :o Thanks Tank! I have tried this guide about 5 times, It works great & no bricks! I think if you add the starting firmware for V9x & Euro V9 like following the example in the code preview it could also work on other V9 versions also. I wanted to post this here as some V9 owners were asking about it. Have fun! :)

fldodger or anyone that knows...what format should your image be.tried in jpeg,then jpg and it came out splotchy. should it be png wonder? v9x though it did work.

should it work with my v9x? btw, what is bootscreen? is it the startup picture or the back-logo when i open the flip? thanks!

^^^sure that was a BOOTSCREEN thing... a logo appeared on the first time you starts up the phone... we read it as a "but-skrin" :D :D :D
Another possibility is by using the P2K-Commander v6, browse to Drive A, in the "/system" folder, there you will see a file named "Cust...gif" that can easily be replaced by other GIF file as you want.
