[Guide]Replacing Font Z8

[Rotary Parts]

1) Create the directory e:\Resource\Fonts\ (where 'e' is your flash card). You may need to do this from your PC as the Resource folder will be in use on the C drive and you may not be allowed to create it on the E drive.

2) Copy your font files to this folder and restart your phone.

3) The phone will read the fonts on your flash card and load these before reading the fonts on your C drive, therefore, new fonts!

4) To get these fonts to display correctly, they have to be named exactly as they appear in the original fonts folder on the C drive.

5) the names are as follows:

kamelion_arabic.ttf - Regular

kamelion_basic.ttf - Regular

kamelion_chinese.ttf - Regular

KamelionBasic-Bold.ttf - Bold

RastaBol_TT.ttf - Bold

rastaBoldtal_TT.ttf - - Bold Italic

RastaItal_TT.ttf - Regular Italic

RastaReg_TT.ttf - Regular

synergy_full.ttf - Regular

6) All you have to do is rename your font file that contains a regular font and rename it to the names above that are regular fonts, rename your font file that has an italic font and rename it to the name of an italic font above, the same with, italic, bold italic, etc...

7) They will then replace the files above.

Welcome hellspawn.

What flash are you using on your Z8? You may need to be running modded firmware for this....
I am running ELEGANCE-V1-2388
With this flash you can rename you ttf font files as stated in the guide and add to the memory card>Resource>fonts>
Then restart your phone and the new font will be read from the memory card.
However...i notice that not all fonts work well with the Z8:boh:

I have had better luck porting the origianl fonts and renaming as per the guide.
Using elegance and english language only i ported the font file named "kamelion_basic.ttf"
While i use english this file actually changed all of the font on my phone(numbers and letters)
I have ported the other font files as well but still no luck changing the font on the home screen...

Just rename your new font file(.ttf) the same as your fonts in memory card>Resource>fonts>
You have to keep the names the same.
You should see something like this....
kamelion_arabic.ttf
kamelion_basic.ttf
kamelion_chinese.ttf
Sans-Sherif_Latin-Bold.ttf
Sans-Sherif_Latin-Regular.ttf

Restart your phone to see the changes.

I find that not all fonts work well with this phone and im not sure why:boh:
If all else fails you can always port your new font to the existing files in memory card>Resource>fonts>

This was the only way i could get the marking pen font working as shown in post 4

PM me the font you want to apply and i will take a look and see if i can get it working.

Try my custom marking pen font on your phone and see how this works with French language.

Just replace the font folder with this one on your memory card>Resource>fonts (dont forget to backup the originals)
This font is not finished,still need to change the homesceen (BOLD) font but everything else looks good.

Restart your phone to see the changes,sometimes after the initial restart the font does not apply in all areas and another restart solves the problem.

Let me know how it works out.

As i have mentioned in the earlier posts simply renaming the fonts does not seem to work most of the time,some do but most DO NOT:mad:
There may be something that im missing..:boh:

The font that i made and you have working on your phone i ported to the original font files in memory card>Resource>fonts>.
This method works well but is obviously more work.

Untill we have the mystery figured you may want to get familiar with this guide here,just focus on using the font creator section of the guide as we do not need to make a flash file only edit the ttf files.

As per request here is the marvel font for testing.
Font seems to look and work great other than the homescreen "BOLD" type font(I think i have this figured and will update after more testing)
Install as before......replace the "fonts" folder in memory card>Resource>fonts

I think it looks pretty good...i only tested this breifly the one time.
Let me know if you see any bugs....i think i have the homescreen "BOLD" type figured as well.

I want the original Moto font (not this one in Elegance :D ). Moto font, Tahoma font, Veranda font, Calibri font... How to make them work?

Ow, you can't have more than one active font? You can't change fonts from settings or something...

Can you tell me how they must be renamed? Or can you give me the fonts? :o

If you want to apply the origianl font, just remove the .ttf files from memory card>Resource>fonts and restart your phone.

Only 1 active font at a time, no ability to change the font from settings.

Follow the first post to rename the font, is use the AutoNaming feature in high logic font creator to rename the .ttf files.
You can google to find the high logic font creator.
