I may get the L9.It has 176x220 resolution but it is cheap and I might get it.I haven't decided yet.

I'm a proud k3 owner and it's moddable the same way as v3x v6 series (but faster hehe)
Gorgeous design and excellent materials, anyway z8 is different from any moto out there, runs Symbian.
v8 will be Juix like E2
v9 will be v3xx Synergy
Long vacations uh...

I am hoping that by the time I am bored with my v3i I will be able to get my hands on a v8 (anyone know the difference between the v8 and the v9?)

V8 and V9, emmm let see....
The difference between the two Motorola Razr 2 cell phones is that the Motorola Razr V8 does not have an expandable memory slot while the Motorola Razr 2 V9 supports microSD expandable memory.
The difference between the older "outdated" Synergy UI & the new Linux UI, is that the Linux UI has a totally redesigned more eye appealing interface thats highly customizable. You can add, change, & move folders to where ever you want like Nokia's S60 UI. So it's more of a "smartphone" than it is a regular phone.
This V8 version will be the only version to carry the new and revitalized Linux UI, which will be on "T-Mobile." Other Razr 2 Versions (V9 & V9M) will have the old & tired Synergy UI.
The market will see release of three handsets coming from the RAZR2 family at a time - V8, V9, V9m. Each of them has own market to focus one due to different connectivity options bundled. The line-up?s flagship position is occupied solely by the RAZR2 V8, which is, much like the Motorola Z6, based on Linux/Java, and sports the latest interface version, whereas the rest of the devices run P2K and are of little interest, saving for the casing and design. Functionality-wise these products have their roots in the previous generation; the fate has some irony, for sure. Look at the table to find out what sets the devices apart:
V8
GSM
Linux/Java OS
500 Mhz processor speed
USB 2.0 High Speed
Multi-shot image capture

approximately 1000 w/2G
Yahoo and Hotmail email capabilities
Synchronize phonebook, email and calendar over the air
Read and reply to text from CLI
Crystal Talk
V9m
EVDO CDMA
P2K OS
250 Mhz processor speed
Micro SD
USB 2.0 High Speed
Video streaming
Up to 2GB with removable card
V9
3G HSDPA
P2K OS
500 Mhz processor speed

Based on available memory; on board 45 MB; up to 2 GB with removable memory

Thanks, Araeff,
Great intel.
What is wrong with Tmo ?
I love their service but they keep denying me phones with expandable memory
So I'll have to chase down an unlocked V9 ......

No worries, my back ups have back ups.
I haven't done anything with my phone yet, and plan to mess with it first, then add all my files...so there's not much to loose.
I am in the research phase, collecting the appropriate programs.
I'm sure I will be asking away shortly. many thanks

what is the difference in UI? like what do different ones do?

I decided to not buy the L9.V3xx is a better phone and I can't go back to 176x220 with worse UI (L9)..
I am really dissapointed by Motorola.I just want a phone with good video recording. Not this crap 176x144 at 15 fps...
They are releasing the V8/V9 with this crappy video recording and the same bad 2mp camera.I can't believe it.
Only the modding makes me stick to Motorola now.Besides that,v3xx modding is not so advanced...

Well keep in mind there's not much to mod 8)
Of course the camera recording is an issue, but oh well, a pretty phone does the trick for me and keeps me here ...
Maybe v8 camera will improve? I mean E2 at 1.3 megapixel was pretty good because of the UI handling
p.s. I didn't know you were 21 , haha this extra info is somehow strange

z6? why not z8? im kind of excited about the z8z
Dmatthew
07-11-2007, 12:19 AM
Well I'm not so sure how Symbian and I will get along haha... from mobilereview it seems like a bit complicated, so there would be a challenge, but I just saw Z6 as a "coming soon" to a carrier of my country, so I'm all excited about that.
Z8 is still on the run , I've yet to touch it and see it in action, since it's a big selling point for me (and z6 looks hot no matter what haha)

DMatt, Z6 also runs on Linux OS, isn't it? Yup, looks very cool!

Indeed, the oh so glorified Juix.. What I'm keen on are its music features, the sharp screen (same as the k3) the form factor I loved from RIZR and the fact that then I could contribute here with juix mods :P

Juix is being installed in Ming I heard, they have opted for Juix instead of Windows mobile.
Dmatthew
07-11-2007, 02:53 AM
Yeah all hail to juix now hehe... But then no 3G capable right? I think many will complain then.. since Ming had Edge and nothing else on its first release
