The Texas state Senate yesterday gave preliminary approval to a state
budget that includes a provision forbidding government agencies from
upgrading to Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Vista without written consent
of the legislature.

Huh, I guess an entire state agrees with me. I'm not a fan of Vista either.

Well that might explain why human services said I have to wait 8 months to get cash assistance when I'm temporarily disabled for 3 months...
and I quote: "44 state agencies have already spent a total of $6.1 million to upgrade to Vista in the last several years. They range from a low of $122 spent by the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying to $1.6 million spent by the Health and Human Services Commission."

I also read something about companies buying old PC units not because they're cheap (but that sort of became a collateral benefit), but mainly because these older units have XP installed in them. Windows 7 should better be good!
