Future Z8 user :D

Hello everyone! I am sorry if I break rules with this post... It's my first time on this forum, and I really have time to read the rules... Please don't ban me for that. I post this topic from a PDA, and doing this on a GPRS Class 10 connection with 1 signal bar isn't easy :P .

I currently own a V360, which is dead (flex band problem), and using a borrowed L6 :D . This isn't going to last. I need a new phone (anyway I was going to buy a new one - I'm sick of my slow V360).

Alright, let's get to it :D . I have changed my mind on what phone to buy for about 20 times (3 months >.<). N95, N82, N79, L9-L7 (rofl), V3 (omfg lmfao)... A LOT :D . Now, I have come to the last battle, I hope :) : Nokia E51 - Motorola Z8.

I know everything I need to know about the E51 and it is quite promissing. But, I like the Z8 design :( so much :X .

I have seen the specs and reviews from GSMArena and 3 more Romanian stores. About the Z8 (this is the information I need :) ) :
-the processor is 300/330 MHz (while E51's is 369) - which is it exactly? Is it enough? Is it fast? :D
-the RAM is 50/64 MB (while E51's is 98) - which is it exactly? Is it enough? Is it fast? :D
-the OS is pretty much the same (same version), too bad Z8's is UIQ, not UI like E51's. All reviews I've read say "Z8 - dunno if this word is forbidden ; forgive me if it is :( , I'll censore it, just in case :D - s**ks because of the OS. Very few applications are working on it due to missing touchscreen." Can you enlight me? Are there many applications for it? Are they fast? Is the OS really rubbish? Does it look like the true E51's UI in any way?
-the kick-flip... The V360 I own has the string broken, and the flip is just falling by the gravity (lol). Z8's kick-flip is a flip-slide in fact, and I assume it'll get "broken" after some time (<8 months, like it happened to my V360). It will stop sustaining the phone's weight and the slide will close - my guessing :D . Is the kick-flip problematic?
-the camera... I hear it really S**KS. Is it so? Can't you change the driver, just like on SE (probably not :P )?
-the keys... I can't get my hands on a Z8, even in stores (they just don't have it exposed >.< )... Can you tell me... Are the keys easy to press (like on V360/L9 for example) or hard, like on ZN5 (FOLY HUCK)? And, doesn't your finger slide on them when you're sweat? They don't on V360, they do on L6 :P .
-V360's screen is 1.9 inch, E51's is 2.0, Z8's is 2.2, my iriver E100's is 2.4 (like N82), so I don't think mentioning the screen is needed :P .
-the battery... it's -20 mAh than E51's =)) (doesn't matter anyway lol). Does it last? I doubt it lasts 16 days in standby (as a review I wrote said wtf :-L ).


Now... about the OS :) . It's UIQ, alright. Why the hell did they put UIQ... they wanted to be unique >.< lol. Anyway... I don't think it's so bad. You can mod the Z8, right? Less/more than a V360/L7? :D

And... are there ELFs for it? A lot of them? :X

And... about the OS... Are there applications for it (not for touch-screen >.< )? :D :D :D A LOT OF THEM? :D

Btw,Welcome Radu4Moto to mmus..:)
-Z8 has 300 mhz processors. With not too much applications running on background,Z8 will run fast.
-The RAM is about 64 mb which isn't enough for Z8 to run much applications on background as we know that in UIQ if we press back,some of the applications are still running on background.
-For the applications,I have installed about 82 apps on my Z8 so I think it has much applications if we just Google it.:D
-Nope..It's so solid for me.I have been using my Z8 over a year and it has no problem in kick-sliding so far.
-We have no camera driver on Moto..:D
But I think the camera isn't that bad. It's average quality.
-The keypad on Z8 is hard to press. If we text a lot,we'll find it difficult.
-The screen quality on Z8 is one of the best in market.It's so bright and clear.
-If you use a lot,the battery will drain fast. So,it only has a long standby but it will drain fast if we use a lot and you have to charge it every day.

There's no ELF on Z8..:D
Z8 is moddable and if you use Foxmod series MP,you'll notice a lot differences in performance than stock one.:)

Thank you both for replying. By yesterday, I was sure I am going to start the work today, but the "boss" who was supposed to hire me just told me there's someone new... But I am on the waiting list since may, and now another one comes 1 day before? That's...

So, all the money I'm gonna get is from my parents and probably grandparents... I doubt I'll be able to get the E51. I doubt I'll get a new phone afterall... The V360 is dead, the L6 is dying... lol.

Anyway, let's continue about the Z8 :D .

You have 84 applications on your Z8? I didn't thought there are so many. Most people say there are very few working applications since it doesn't have touchscreen.

Can you tell me... How moddable is the Z8 :D ? More moddable than the V360/L7? :D

And, about the GPRS/EDGE... I don't see this on previews... I see they're class 10. Have you ever reached 234 kbps (EDGE)?! I doubt it'll reach even 48...

I think L7 or V360 is more moddable than Z8 coz there are so many monsterpacks around the net. But they just depend on Java apps and Z8 can run Symbian UIQ and java apps.That's the big point of Z8.
Z8 has HSDPA so it will run faster than EDGE.

I know it has 3G, but here, at Orange RO (GSM provider), there is an option... Orange WAP Unlimited : 30 days of unlimited WAP access through GPRS/EDGE with 3.5 EUR. There are 3 3G options, but for 500 MB you must pay 6 EUR... Plus that 3G cover area isn't always effective. And also, I doubt I'll reach 3.2 Mbps =)) .

About the Z8 platform, again... I know it has UIQ. I also know most of apps for UIQ require touchscreen... But apps for E51 won't work on Z8 (though it's the same OS - kinda) :( . JAVA WORKS?! :D

Thanks :D . Will see tomorrow. Can't wait 8-> . I just hope the GPRS/EDGE connection is fast enough, OS good enough and the keys are not so hard to press - as many previews say.

Something I want to know from now... Can you use the phone with the slide closed? I mean... go through its menus etc... and open the slide only when needed... I know this may sound foolish, but you can expect everything from Motorola... :D



Ow, one thing I love about this forum : nobody has told me "Use the ****ing Google!!!" so far :D . I got banned on SevenForums (hope mentioning other forums ain't forbidden - that's Windows 7 forum anyway, very important...) after not even 6 hours of making a post - because I posted a question without searching on Google first >.< .
